Artist Notes on this Piece Crow has always been a messenger for me. This image expressed for me the need to meet head on the overwhelming sea of memories I had concerning the relationship I had with my parents. After the sudden and tragic death of both my parents in 2004 I found myself over come with guilt when I relived the negative feelings of past events that would never be resolved. The foreground detail represents the clarity of recent memory and choices I have around those memories, where as the further into the past the more muddied and overwhelming the pain was for me. There is a time to choose what we hold onto and what we let go of. Growing up in dysfunction may have created an unchangeable past, but crow reminds me of the power of choice in which we manifest the now. |
