Artist Notes on this Piece I’ve always believed that angels appear to us most often in a form we would expect to see them. When I image angels, I don’t see the typical Christmas image. Most angels are androgynous neither female nor male, but generally the Archangels are seen as Male. I really strived to create Uriel in an image that would be almost frightening, but at the same time ambiguous of sex and age. I think the fact that the viewer looks down at him is quite unusual and puts the viewer in position that would never occur unless elevated to a Godlike vibration. Here Uriel challenges us with the question of our passion for God. I created this piece in attempt to evoke Uriel in my imagination as he is known to be an angel of manifestation and creativity. |
